" The character of Rastafari has been shaped by Revivalism to a greater degree that it is thought " Dr. Barry Chevannes (Anthopologist)
" I started including some of these - Revival - beats in our music: Dancehall ! " Clevie Browne (Dancehall music co-inventor - producer, musician) from Steely and Clevie
< Story > Three times a year, members of the little Zion Revival churches in Jamaica gather on a hill in Watt Town for a pilgrimage where elders transmit their knowledge to the younger ones. Revival as FOUNDATIONS of Dancehall RYTHMS as RASTAFARI philosophy. >
> No disrespect at ALL to Rasta or Maroon but official story about their only predominant influence on Jamaican spirituality and rythms is in fact true but posterior or very minor in Dancehall beats heart. Revival in his various forms was the main spirituality of people at that time, and not only spiritual (see Paul Bogle and Sam Sharpe national heroes rebels bio)
Rythmically....It's, it's...Revival pastors a sometimes REAL REAL deejays as Dancehall ones. (even if they would not apreciate I say this like that) but it's a very Serious ting musically ! A Powerful kind of Gospel from a very SPIRITUAL country : Jamaica.
Hope you'll rate LONG sequence shots with FULL songs/hymns versions, never recorded yet !
Big up ! and please support it ...
More this film get support, sooner Chapter 2 - presently editing - will be released this year
